DINO DAYS
DINO DAYS 2017: Welcome to the Ice Age will feature a complete skeleton of Stegodon, a massive ancestor of mammoths and today?s elephants. At nearly 14-feet tall, with long, graceful tusks that extended forward nearly ten feet, Stegodon was one of the largest mammals to walk the earth! Other Ice Age animals include: Smilodon, the Saber-tooth cat; and its primary predatory competitor, Canis dirus, or Dire Wolf; Castoroides, an enormous beaver that lived in North America during the Pleistocene period; and a woolly rhinoceros (Coelodonta antiquitatis)! In addition to these great Ice Age creatures, the Museum?s Acrocanthosaurus skull, Dimetrodon skeleton, and Clidastes skeleton will also be displayed.
